Easter Decorations

I made a few things for Easter to help decorate my house . They turned out really cute. I’ve seen some on blogs and some on Pinterest. I had a few decorations but needed some new ones so I googled Easter Wreaths and found a ton of really cute ones. Wow are there some crafty talented people out there. I found a good tutorial for a Ribbon Wreath and Topiary on debbiedoescreations.com. The great part is you can do them for fairly inexpensive. You can buy most of the stuff at the dollar store.  Here’s a few pictures of what I did.

This was easy and really cheap because I had leftover ribbon from my wreath. It only took me about 45 minutes.

I love candy displays and they fit in easily along a garland or table landscape. So hilarious that I found gummy carrots to go with my bunny mallows. There’s a lot of cute Easter candy out there that you can use. Those eggs are actually wooden eggs that I painted and I found the cute chicken wire wrapped glass bowl at Ross for $4.00. Love that place to find different things you can use to decorate and for a great price.

I also made a Peep topiary. My kids love Peeps! Me included. I started using a toothpick to attach these to the styrofoam ball but a lot were falling off after I finished so I had to hot glue some. I would go that route unless you want them to be a display for a dessert table and to be eaten.

The next morning they were drier and therefore shrunk a bit which then makes spaces show in between. Even so its so cute. I used the tutorial by thehungrymouse.com but that is the toothpick way and I would recommend hot gluing.

I’d have to say these are the cutest craft and so simple. I found this on thecsiproject.com by a guest blogger called JC’s Loft, but when I tried to find her blog or site it kept saying not found. Sad because i’m sure she has some great ideas after seeing this one. Aren’t they Eggcellent?! Sorry Ha!

My last picture is of some decorations I already had I just added the subway art. I love Subway Art for Holidays so cute and you can usually find quite a bit out there that’s free.:0)

This subway art was from eighteen25.blogspot.com. You can google Easter Subway art and take your pick of many.

Thanks to all these talented people I have a whole bunch of new Easter decor. Check out their blogs or websites for more holiday crafts.

St. Patrick’s Day Treats

I made some St. Patrick treats for my family and friends that were mighty tasty but of course could be made anytime. The first was my favorite the Mint Oreo Brownie with chunks of mint Oreo in the brownie and on top. I also put mint marshmallows in the brownie batter. Next I made a Chex popcorn mix with a Baileys Irish Cream spiked caramel and mint M&M’s. I couldn’t stop eating this but I do love snack mixes. I also made Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes, cake pops and a Lucky Charm mix that I’d seen all over food blogs. They were really good as well. Here’s the recipes:

Oreo Mint Brownies

Preheat ovent to 350

grease a 9×13 pan

Brownies

2C. sugar

1C. butter softened

4 eggs

11/2c. flour

2t. vanilla

1t. salt

12 Mint Oreos chopped

Cream butter, cocoa and sugar together then add eggs until combined then add rest of ingredients but folding in Oreos.

Spread in prepared pan

Press 15 chocolate mint marshamllows into batter and put in oven and bake 22 to 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out almost clean. Let cool completely

Frosting

1cube butter softened

3c. powdered sugar

1/8 t. mint extract

Cream all together and add:

1T. milk or until frosting consistency

then add 1 7oz container of marshmallow creme

a few drops of green food coloring

and 3/4c. melted white chocolate chips

Spread over cooled brownies and sprinkle 18 crushed up oreos over top pressing in slightly.

Baileys Spiked Irish Caramel Chex Popcorn Mix

2c. Rice or Corn Chex

1 bag of microwave popcorn popped

11/2c. broken pretzel sticks

1/2c. slice almonds

1/2c. peanuts

1/3c. Baileys Irish Cream

1/8t. baking soda

1 bag of mint M&M’s

1/2c. toffee bits

In a large bowl mix cereal, popcorn, pretzels and nuts.

In a small pot melt butter, brown sugar and corn syrup then add Baileys and bring to a boil. Boil about 5 minutes then remove from heat and add baking soda. Mix well and pour over cereal mixture stirring to coat evenly. Dump it into a large paper bag and fold it close and microwave 1 minute then take out and stir or shake. At this point add your Toffee bits and  microwave 1 more minute and then stir agan and dump out onto a cooke sheet to cool. When cooled add your Mint M&M’s and mix in and serve.

thanksgiving name tags

Don’t mind my camera phone pictures.  We made name tags for the family for Thanksgiving dinner.  I love to scrap book, so this was fun for me.  We just had cardboard backs, scrapbook paper to add on top (some of them), buttons, cut little cut outs and then got mini pumpkins from hobby lobby to use as a base! Super fun and you can get creative with each name tag! Here are some finished ones with better quality pics…
